Yesterday was the first day.

The first day of my new job.

The first day of my new job at home you guys.

I'm nannying a little girl, you may have heard of her. Goes by the name of Arianna. Quite possibly the most beautiful baby ever born.

I can't tell you how happy I am!

Now, part of this happiness may possibly be attributed to the fact that I am getting paid to love one of the most lovable little beings I have ever met. I think that would make almost anyone happy!

 Awwwwwwwwwww.....

But.

Guys.

I'm just so happy to be home.

I've been working out-of-my-home for more than two years, and I've had a few very good, fulfilling sort of jobs. My past year and a half has been spent working at a workshop program with developmentally disabled adults. This is something I like to do, this is something I am good at! Other than a looney boss and a very lazy young man I had very little to complain about. Only, it wasn't what I wanted. (Or wasn't making me happy. Or wasn't right.)

Getting up at six every morning and rushing to pull on my (mandated) jeans and putting on some makeup and pulling out my hair and leaving for eight hours to run around in circles and coming home way too tired to to much more than eat, shower, and sleep is not where my life is going. I don't think that's God's plan for me! I anticipate wifeyness and motherdom in my future, not careeritude. So when the opportunity presented itself for me to go home for good, I gave my two weeks notice and thanked God pretty profusely.

I feel like my life is balancing out~

AND I'LL NEVER HAVE TO WEAR JEANS AGAIN OH MAN I HATE JEANS THEY ARE THE WORST I AM SERIOUS YOU GUYS SWEATPANTS ARE COOL BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT'S SKIRTS ALL THE WAY. ALL THE WAY.

  1. How wonderful! My first job was as a nanny in a neighbor's home. I walked to work every day and loved those kids so much. My greatest joy while there was praying with the little girl to ask Jesus into her heart.

It is great that you can be at home and love this sweet baby and care for her well.

  6. My sister Hannah found the little kitty last year and we still can't decide what to call her! I call her Girl, or Baby, or Girl Kitty. My brother calls her Little Cat. My dad calls her Miss Fezi (like Mrs. Fezziwig from a Christmas Carol) and my mom calls her whatever comes to mind!

  8. I have to admit I like my jeans.....BUT I cannot imagine being told I HAD to wear them all of the time. I got a couple of maternity skirts yesterday, and I am anxious to wear them. (so girly)

I am thrilled to pieces that God has provided a way for you to be HOME.

  9. Yay for wifeyness and motherdom!! You go girl. I just quit my job too in favor of a home business. Wow - we must be creepy cosmic cousins - or something. (Don't worry... I think Mr.Thornton would be pleased to hear it.)
Also, I know this is incredibly strange, but I have a gift for you..... I just need to figure out how to get it from me - to you. Hmmmmm... I'll start thinking right now (light bulb, please, anyone??)

  10. Oooh, all babies are pretty adorable ~ especially mine! ;P Skirts are out! Out! Out! Tactile issues with bits of me touching other bits of me. EEEEW!!!!! Kameeze for preference otherwise sweats & a longish top but I will do jeans over a skirt any day! lol Yes, with covering. Go on. Ask. I dare you.

My 21 yr old is headed for the mission field so she'll have lots of kiddiewinks; the older sort, to play soccer with.

Home is best I think. I have tried it all ways & hate having to leave the house. These days I'm rarely home because I have to run the house inmates round the world but better that than no energy for the people I love most. Enjoy.

  11. Sarah, I think Girl Kitty is an awesome name, but I also think that a kitty called a different name by every person is cool too...which I like best, I do not know:)

Mrs. Rabe, Thank you! In the interest of full disclosure, I am an assistant at an in home daycare on Fridays, and while I adore all those kids I'm a bit afraid I'll lose my ability to talk to adult humans...oh dear.

Joshswife, I used to like my jeans alot, now I find that skirts are just SO SO SO much more comfy....also, I look awful in pants, just dreadful.

Ann, whaaat, that's insane. We are the same person...creepy cosmic cousins, crazy cool clones? You have a GIFT? For ME? NO WAY. SO SWEET! You should send it to me in the mail, packages are my favourite favourite thing!!

Ganeida, wah, what about if you wore a skirt with leggings underneath? That's what I wear every day, it's so cold here! Tights and leggings and socks and a skirt and two shirts and a sweater and maybe another sweater. Okay, I'll ask, since you DARED me! Covering?
